How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
While you'll see various figures around on the internet - we strongly recommend that you clean your dryer vents every year.
Did you know there are more than 20,000 reported dryer fires every year in Canada? Many insurance companies are even starting to mandate yearly dryer vent cleaning as a requirement for homeowners to upkeep their coverage.
Who is responsible for cleaning dryer vents in condos?
In most cases, your building likely has an agreement between the strata corporation and the owners. Typically strata is the one that will schedule the vent cleaning on a yearly basis, and provide maintenance.
However, in the event of damage, owners are responsible for UP TO 75% of the damage. Isn't that crazy? And the strata gets away with a slap on the wrist.

Do you only do dryer vent cleaning or is it all vents in the house?
Our $150 dryer vent cleaning special is strictly for your dryer vents.
A full-home vent cleaning requires other specialized equipment (negative air machine) and usually runs in the hundreds of dollars ($500-750) depending on complexity and time. If that's what you're interested in - we would be happy to help, but at a different price point.
Do you clean dryer vents from the outside and inside?
In most cases, we try our best to clean your vent from the outside and from the inside to make sure it's 100% clean and clear throughout.
This heavily depends on the accessibility of your outside vent.
For roof-top vents we don't actually need to go up on your roof to clean them. Due to gravity, most of the restrictions form in the first few 90-degree elbows of the run and we can clean them 100% from the inside. In some rare cases, in the event of a BIG restriction further up the run, we can go into your attic to clean the vent right by the exit port and clear any restriction from both directions.
Our technicians use borescopes to find and identify the restrictions accurately and quickly - and we'll be happy to show you some before/after pictures.
